US president-elect Joe Biden has demanded that Donald Trump goes on national television “to fulfil his oath” and call for peace.
Reacting to protests at the US Capitol building in Washington DC, Mr Biden said that “the words of a president matter, no matter how good or bad that president is”.
He said he was shocked and saddened at the violent demonstrations, adding: “This is not dissent, it’s disorder.”
And he said: “President Trump… step up.”
In a video posted to his Twitter account, President Trump has just told supporters to “go home”, adding: “We love you”.
